Joseph’s Obituary Joseph John Rossi, age 76, of Garland, Texas passed away February 8, 2019. He was born May 28, 1942 in Detroit, Michigan to parents Grace M. Rossi and Joseph Francis Rossi. Joe was a veteran with the United States Navy and served on the U.S.S. Enterprise.

He moved to Texas in 2004, after he retired from Chrysler Corporation. Joe is survived by his wife, Audrey Rossi; step-son, Glen Hendershott and his wife, Debra; brother, John Rossi and his wife, Linda; sisters, Judy Fowler and husband, John and Peggy Connelly and husband, Dan; grandchildren, Breana Hendershott, Adam Wilson and Kristina Wilson; great-grandson Ryer and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Grace M. Rossi and Joseph Francis Rossi; sons, Robert Eric Hendershott and John Joseph Rossi; and his brother, Thomas Rossi.

To his family he was called “Skip” because he skipped around the house. He was a hard worker, kind, peaceful and selfless. Joe had a great sense of humor.

Audrey tells of how they met on a blind date, he stipulated that he wanted a dark haired girl and one shorter than him. Instead he got a tall girl with blond hair. Joe was mischievous and a prankster.

He always had a sparkle in his eye and a silly grin. He loved the Red Wings Hockey team, loved to ice skate and play hockey with his siblings when they were young. He also loved the Detroit Lions.

Joe loved reading anything about Native American history. One of his many talents was remodeling and he known as a “handyman”. He could do anything with wood.

He made a small racing car for his son, Johnny when he was in the Cub Scouts, and they won first place. Every house they lived in had to have a bar, even though he did not drink a lot. This brings to mind, the many shot glasses and beer signs he collected from his various travels and brought home for his family.

He will be greatly missed by his friends and family. A funeral service will be held at Big Spring Baptist Church in Garland, Texas on Monday, February 11, 2019 at 1:00PM with a graveside service with Military Honors, at Big Springs Cemetery, to follow.
