Billy (BeJay) Joe Cantu, 76, of Waxahachie, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, July 24, 2018. Billy was born in Waxahachie, TX on December 27th 1941 to Joe and Naomi Cantu. He was a lifetime Waxahachie resident who graduated from Waxahachie High School in 1961.

He was united in marriage to Peggy Jane Doherty on July 30, 1965, she preceded him in death on February 23, 2015. He proudly served his country in the US Army from 1961 to 1967. Billy was a devoted Husband, Father and Grandfather… Read More » who found great joy in spending time with his family.

After having grandchildren, his favorite pastime was watching his grandsons play various sports. He is survived by his two children, Traci and husband Jason Moore of Waxahachie, TX and Chris Cantu and his wife Maruchy of Flower Mound, TX. In addition, he is survived by four grandsons: Auston and Peyton Moore & Caleb and Cole Cantu.

Siblings: Fran Chandler of Waxahachie, TX, Carolyn and her husband Thomas Gunter of Temple, TX, Gloria and her husband Leon Glover of Neosho, MO, Joe Cantu Jr. of Waxahachie, TX, Richard Cantu of Waxahachie, TX, and Cindy and her husband Lynn Wood of Waxahachie, TX. Siblings by marriage: Dorothy and her husband Neal Davis of Waxahachie, TX, Ricky and his wife Vicki Doherty of Clifton, TX and Bob LeBlanc of Carrollton, TX. He also had numerous nieces and nephews which he loved very much.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Naomi Cantu of Waxahachie, TX, and his sister Naomi (MeMe) LeBlanc of Carrollton, TX. A gathering of family and friends to celebrate Billy’s life is scheduled from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 26th at Wayne Boze Funeral Home located at 1826 W. Hwy 287 Business in Waxahachie, Texas. “Death to the Christian is the funeral of all his sorrows and evils, and is the resurrection, of all his joys”.
