Obituary for Bonnie Flinn Bonnie Marie (Layton) Flinn, 90, of Cheyenne, Wyoming died July 10th in Cheyenne. She was born November 19, 1927 in Jamestown, Cloud County, Kansas to Herman Leon and Flora (Slothower) Layton. Bonnie’s mother, “Flora”, died when Bonnie was 8 years old.

Bonnie’s father later married Dorothy Elizabeth Morris, whom Bonnie called “Mom”. She was raised in the Randall and Jamestown, KS area where her dad and Mom made their living farming. Bonnie graduated from Randall High School, class of 1945.

Bonnie’s roots were deeply embedded in the flat lands of Kansas. She had a very strong bond to her family, so deep that even in her later years when her memory began to dim she could recall all the old stories of her family and the years that she grew up and lived in Kansas. During Bonnie’s life she lived in different places which includes Nebraska, Colorado and Wyoming but through all this, her soul never left Kansas.

. Bonnie married James J. Flinn in November of 1946, to this union two children were born: Sonja and Roger. In 1951, they moved to Mitchell, Nebraska where Bonnie was able to stay at home and raise their children.

After Jim’s death in 1968, Bonnie relocated to Greeley, CO where she worked as a CNA until her retirement. She later moved to Cheyenne, where she lived with her daughter until her death. Bonnie is survived by her two children, Sonja E. Brown and her husband, Larry Brown of Cheyenne and Roger R. Flinn and his wife, Carla of Cody, WY; two brothers, Donald Layton of Derby, KS and Dennis Layton of McPherson, KS; six grandchildren, Donnie Todd and wife, Catina of Cheyenne, Carrie Berig and husband, Darren of Milliken, CO, Tina Brown and husband, Clinton of Estes Park, CO, Jody Hobson and husband, Eric of Brighton, CO and Jennifer Flinn of Las Vegas, NV and eleven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Delmar Layton and a grandson, James Todd. Services will be held at the Randall Community Church in Randall, KS. Final arrangement are being made by the Caput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia, KS.
