FULLERTON—Bonnie Jean Zarek, 92, of Fullerton, died Thursday, February 28, 2019, at Litzenberg Memorial Long-Term Care in Central City. Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 4, 2019, at Palmer-Santin Funeral Home in Fullerton with Reverend Vern Olson officiating. Burial will follow at Sunnyside Cemetery in rural Fullerton.

Visitation will be 3-5 p.m. Sunday, March 3rd at the funeral home. Palmer-Santin Funeral Home is serving the family. Bonnie was born September 27, 1926 to Mildred and Frank Purvis.

After graduating from high school, Bonnie taught country school for six years. She married Adelbert Zarek on November 30, 1946. To this union, they were blessed with eight children.

Bonnie was an avid gardener, canner, sewer, quilter, and a member of Flower Belles and Red Hats. She was an all-around great baker and cook. She made the best homemade breads, cinnamon rolls, pies, and desserts.

Bonnie is survived by her sons, Alan (Peg) Zarek of Genoa, Dennis (Kelly) Zarek of Fullerton, and Douglas (Kim) Zarek of Wood River; daughters, Deborah Zarek of Fullerton, Kathy Allen of Fullerton, Karen (J. Robert) Kelty of Lincoln, and Amy Zarek of Genoa; sister, Ruth Carlson of Genoa; and fourteen grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband; son, Raymond; parents; sister, Margaret Mason; and many other family and friends.
