Boyd Ewin Duncan, age 86 of Duluth, died January 13, 2019. The family will receive visitors Thursday, January 17, 2019 at Noon, with a memorial celebration of life immediately following at 2:00 at Bill Head Funeral Home, Duluth Chapel. Mr. Duncan was born near Cedar Bluff, AL and was a retired real estate broker.

He graduated from Georgia State University where he was a founding member of Sigma Nu Fraternity and served in various leadership positions therein. He was also a member of Alpha Kappa Psi professional business fraternity and Pi Sigma Epsilon marketing fraternity. Mr. Duncan was instrumental in the development of Gwinnett County throughout his career.

He founded Boyd Duncan & Associates Realtors in 1972, which operated successfully in the county for many years. He served as the first President of the Gwinnett Board of Realtors and served in many other capacities in that organization. Mr. Duncan was recognized as the Realtor of the Year in Gwinnett County in 1971.

He was also a member of the Board of Governors of the Georgia Realtors Institute and an influential and active member of the Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce and the Gwinnett Council for Quality Growth. He was an original founding member of the Gwinnett Rotary Club and remained active in that organization his entire life. He was named a 75th Anniversary Paul Harris Fellow and was a Rotary International Benefactor.

Mr. Duncan was very active in his community through civic organizations and volunteer work. He was a member of and served as Vice President of the Lilburn Lions Club. He also was a benefactor and volunteer for the Boys and Girls Club, Eagle Ranch, Boy’s Town and the Salvation Army.

He also served as the Norcross Unit Chair of the American Cancer Society. Mr. Duncan was also a Veteran, serving in the US Navy during the Korean War. He is survived by his daughter, Kelley Crane of Dawsonville; son, Bryan Duncan of Denver, CO; grandchildren, Ashley Duncan, Tatum Duncan, Drew Johnson, Miles Johnson, Casey Lane and her husband Jacob and Hayden Crane; twin sister, Lois McDaniel of Plano, TX; nephews, Jimmie McDaniel, Larry Pettyjohn and James Duncan.
