Struthers – Bradley C. Ramsbottom, 92, died Sunday, April 22, 2018 at his home. Brad was born April 24, 1925 in Youngstown, a son of Harry and Mabel (Kramer) Ramsbottom. Raised in Struthers, Mr. Ramsbottom was a 1942 graduate of Struthers High School.

He was employed as a deliveryman for Nabisco and as a millwright for Youngstown Sheet & Tube, later J&L Steel, retiring in 1986 after 40 years of service. Brad was a longtime member of the Struthers Presbyterian Church, now known as Struthers Parkside Church, where he served as an elder and usher. Active in the community, Mr. Ramsbottom served on the Community Chest and reunion committees with his good friend Laddie.

He was one of the founding member of Youngstown Departmental Employees Federal Credit Union, which later merged with Struthers Teacher Credit Union to form the now Struthers Federal Credit Union. For 53 years, he served as a board member and treasurer of the credit union, recently being re-elected to another three year term. In addition, Brad was honored to serve on the Board of the Struthers School Foundation.

Brad had a keen memory for statistics and details, especially where it concerned sports. He enjoyed watching sports of all kinds, whether it be live or on TV, with golf, basketball and college football, being among his favorites. Mr. Ramsbottom was also a huge supporter of high school athletics, especially his alma mater Struthers High School.

In his younger years, he enjoyed bowling and golfing in several leagues. More recently, he enjoyed reading, doing the crosswords and jumbles in the daily newspaper, and weekly lunches with numerous friends and family members including his sister, Jeannie, friend Gus, niece Debbie, and various grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Brad never missed an opportunity to tease and tell jokes, poking fun at himself included.

A liberal through and through, he also never missed an opportunity to talk politics and get everyone riled up. His wife, the former Dorothy Young, whom he married March 12, 1955, preceded him in death on March 5, 2009. Mr. Ramsbottom is survived by his daughter, Barb (Tim) Doran of East Palestine; three sons, David (Michelle) Ramsbottom of Rockwall, TX, Jon (Lori) Ramsbottom of Struthers, and Bob (Mary) Ramsbottom of Poland; nine grandchildren, Kelly (Vas) Patris of Campbell, Jon (Missy) Ramsbottom of Bessemer, Kate Ramsbottom of Frisco, TX, Brad Ramsbottom of Poland, Scott (Amanda) Sainato of TX, Maggie (Luke) Schuster of Poland, Cari (Joe Paquette) Ramsbottom of Millington, MI, Matt (Sarah) Ramsbottom of Chicago, and Mark (Lisa Cullen) Ramsbottom of Poland; bonus grandchildren, Melissa (David Madrid) Doran of Dayton and Tim Doran of Williamsburg, VA; several great-grandchildren, Kosta and Yanni Patris, Lucas and Cameron Schuster, Maddy, Collin, Hailey, Caleb and Camden Paquette, Emma and Vienna Ramsbottom; and soon to be born, eighth great-grandson; loving sister, Jeannie Centofanti of Poland; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Mary Lou Ramsbottom of Put-in-Bay, Dee (Ed) Pfenninger of Macungie, PA, Joanne (Ed) Houser of Dilltown, PA, Naomi Young of Dilltown, PA, and Dan Kresko of Johnstown, PA; several nieces and nephews including a very special niece who always took such good care of him, Debbie Kish.

Brad also leaves his beloved Credit Union Family, whom he cherished. In addition to his parents and wife, Brad was preceded in death by brothers, Robert, Ted, and Henry Ramsbottom; sisters-in-law, Alice Ramsbottom, Monica Ramsbottom, Betty Kresko, and Marian Cornell; brother-in-law, Leslie Cornell and brother-in-law and his buddy Tony Centofanti. Tony and Brad were known as “The Curmudgeons” within the family and we envision them watching sports, sitting in recliners side by side.

Family and friends will be received on Sunday from 4-7 p.m. and Monday from 10-10:30 a.m. at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home, 11 Spring St., Struthers. A funeral service will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with interment to follow at Lake Park Cemetery. Brad’s children would like to send a special thank you to Dr. Bhargava Ravi and his nursing staff for taking such good loving care of our parents over the last several years.
