Brenda J. Brenda was born in Succasunna, NJ on 25 November 1955 to Leo and Lois Gross. Brenda’s mother preceded her in death in 1999.

She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Andy Hall, CAPT, USN (ret), their son Matthew Hall from Washington DC, her father Leo Gross and his wife Kay from Bonita Springs, FL, her brother Dean Gross and his wife Karen of Newark, OH, and an extended family of three step-sisters; Candace Godley of Kansas City, MO, Carrie Cline of Tucson, AZ, and Christina Wegmueller of Corpus Christi, TX, along with their families and many nieces, nephews and cousins. As a youngster, Brenda enjoyed Girl Scouts and was a standout student. She moved with her family to Ohio in 1969 where she graduated from high school in 1973, and relocated with her parents to Bonita Springs, FL that same year.

Brenda attended Edison Community College attaining her Associate’s degree. After moving to Pensacola, FL she completed her Bachelor degree and training as a Dental Hygienist in 1977. There she met Andy, a Naval Flight Student, and they were married in 1978 in Bonita Springs, FL.

Moving to NAS Point Mugu, CA, in 1978 she assumed the role of Navy wife for 23 years, weathering and guiding her family through eight change of stations. Brenda’s positive outlook and wonderful demeanor always allowed her to overcome and adapt during Andy’s 11 deployments. She worked for several years as a Dental Hygienist in Santa Paula, CA, followed by making homes in Jacksonville, FL, Albuquerque, NM, San Diego, CA, Yokosuka, Japan, Mountain View, CA, Ewa Beach, HI, and Washington DC.

As the wife of a Commanding Officer, she kept the families of 68 officers and 365 enlisted personnel informed and engaged with their military members during deployments to Desert Storm, followed by Surveillance Operations off North Korea and China. A gifted hostess and organizer of numerous social functions, her extraordinary efforts included an epic two day impromptu party for 700 Battlegroup Officers from eight different countries participating in a major exercise, RIMPAC ’96 in Hawaii. Virtually raising her son alone for much of his young life, Brenda instilled her attributes of intellectual curiosity, work ethic, dedication, and kindness toward others, which influences Matt to this day.

He is an Eagle Scout, a 2006 graduate of Florida Gulf Coast University, a founder of the Sigma Phi Epsilon chapter on campus, and was Student Body President and a Trustee of the University in 2004-05. In 2012, Brenda saw him found a major events company in Washington DC, recently ranked by Incorporated Magazine as the 97th Fastest Growing Company in the US. She and her family retired from military service in 2001, making Estero, FL their home.

Proving herself a gentle and loving family Matriarch, Brenda defined her life’s success by selflessly making her husband and son better men, all while ensuring those around her were happier having known her. Well Done Sweet Lady! Brenda will be greatly missed by her family along with all who knew her.
