Obituary for Brenda Jewel Duncan (Allen) Mrs. Brenda A. Duncan, age 73, of Corsicana went to heaven on Friday, October 26, 2018 at Twilight Nursing Home with her loved ones by her side. Brenda fought a long hard fight with cancer and is now finally resting comfortably in the arms of her Lord and Savior. She was born on February 23, 1945 in Corsicana, Texas to Cecil and Bobbie (Putman) Allen.

She attended Blooming Grove High School and went on to Navarro College. After working at the college for Dr. Kenneth Walker Brenda made the long drive daily to East Texas State in Commerce where she earned her bachelor’s degree. She later became the Business Manager for Navarro and was loved by faculty, staff and students.

She had such a presence that she never met a stranger and all who knew her felt her warm and welcoming spirit. She received many accolades during her lifetime; State Championship in UIL for Shorthand, outstanding employee of Navarro College, Bulldog Backer (numerous times) and finally earned her Certified Professional Secretary certification. Brenda was the one with “all the smarts” according to Dwight and Gay Lyn.

Brenda loved reading, working crossword puzzles and crocheting, but her greatest hobby was Navarro Bulldog Sports, whether it be coaching, calling the plays or just watching the games, she could always be found in the crowd. She was active in the First Baptist Church in Blooming Grove for many years. She brought such joy to all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Clark Putman, Jr. Brenda is survived by her husband of 49 years, Dwight Wayne Duncan and her daughter GayLyn Duncan. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Linda Foster and husband Loren, her brother Eddy Putman and wife Jan and her sister-in-law Jeanie Putman, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation with the family will be held on Monday, October 29, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Corley Funeral Home Chapel.

Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church in Blooming Grove, Texas with Bro. Grady Cashion officiating. Serving as Pallbearers will be John Paul Plemmons, Brian Phillips, Brandon Nicholson, Joel Elmore, Darrell Shelton and James Shelton.

Coaches Lewis Orr and Bob McElroy will be serving as Honorary Pallbearers. Burial will follow at Younger Cemetery in Purdon, Texas. To send flowers to the family of Brenda Jewel Duncan (Allen), please visit our Heartfelt Sympathies Store.
