Obituary for Bridget Thrapp (Halloran) Our mother Bridget Halloran Thrapp aka Bridie passed away peacefully in the comfort of her family on Tuesday, January 30, 2018. She was born on January 23, 1939 to the late John and Mary (King) in Cliften, CO Galway Ireland. She came to the United States in 1959 and worked for the New York Telephone Company.
She met our dad on a bus to the Catskills and they married on August 17, 1963 and settled in Brooklyn, NY. Our parents came to Amenia in 1973. She was predeceased by our father Peter on August 15, 2010.
Our mom cared for many children through the years. Many of these children returned through the years so she could meet their children. She was known for her flawless soda bread, Irish knit sweaters and the ability to find some humor even under dire circumstances.
She loved cool dry days, good music, babies, good food and the company of her family. She leaves behind to mourn her loss her son Peter (Debra) Thrapp of Virgina and her daughters Anne (Will) Thomas of Amenia, and Sheila (John) Scutieri of Millerton. She was a loving and proud grandmother to Joseph and Sarah Thrapp, Zachary and Paul Thomas, Jerilyn Scutieri of Virgina, Megan, Patrick and Haley Scutieri of Millerton, NY.
Her great grandson Colin Scutieri was the love of her life and brought her such joy. She is also survived by her beloved sister, Ellen Stuffle of Cliften, CO Galway Ireland many nieces and nephews in Ireland, England ,Minnesota and New York. She was predeceased by her brothers John, Michael, Pat and Tom.
Calling hours will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, February 2, 2018 at the Hufcut Funeral Home, 3159 Route 22, Dover Plains, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at Immaculate Conception Cemetery, 4 Lavelle Road, Amenia, NY. Burial will follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Amenia, NY.
