Bruce Alan Carlson, born on November 2nd, 1949 in Berwyn, Illinois. Suddenly passed away on Friday November 16th, 2018 entering the glories of heaven and being welcomed by his Lord and Savior Christ Jesus. He was a resident of Buena Vista Township in rural Richland county at time of death.

Bruce was raised in Brookfield, Illinois, and graduated from Lyons Township High School in 1967. He met his only love of his life Jessie Lou Martin June 1971 while both were helping with VBS at Oak Park Baptist Church in Berwyn, Illinois.

It was at Oak Park Baptist Church that they both came to know Jesus as their Savior, were baptized, and married there on January 22nd, 1977. In 1977 Bruce received his degree in Food and Nutrition. They moved to Madison, WI in October of 1977 accepting the position of manager at an Arby’s restaurant.

January of 1980, he accepted a position at UW hospital and Clinics in the food and nutrition services. During 31 years of service he was a supervisor, manager and hospital administrator up to his retirement in June 2011. In May of 1993 Bruce and the family moved to Buena Vista Township where he resided with his wife and children.

From the 41-year union they raised nine children. Bruce was a hardworking, loving, dedicated, and selfless husband and father. During the years he lived in the Madison area he attended what is now City Church and its sister Church Christ the King in Stoughton, WI.

After moving to the Richland County area, he attended the Richland Baptist Temple, which he considered to be his church family. He enjoyed following sports, especially his favorite teams: Chicago Bulls, Bears, and White Sox’s. He enjoyed reading, his Golden Retriever Alice, and writing.

He loved spending time with his grandchildren and children. Above all he always put others before himself with his beautiful servants’ heart. He is survived by his wife Jessie Lou (Martin); sons: David Charles Carlson (Nicole) Madison, WI; Paul Homer Carlson Madison, WI; Daniel Dean Carlson Richland Center, WI; Nathan Alan and Jonathan Evert Carlson at home; daughters: Lydia Hope Davidson (Robert) South Milwaukee, WI; Priscilla Joy Carlson Muscoda, WI; Anna Faith and Jessica Ruth Carlson at home; four grandsons and four granddaughters.

He is also survived by his brother Tedd Carlson (Emma) Willow Brook, ILL; his mother in law Jessie Lawrence Paducah, KY; brother in law David Martin (Sharon) LaGrange, ILL; father to four of his grandchildren Phillip Sands Grant County, WI. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at 12:00 PM at the Pratt Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in the Button Cemetery.

A visitation will be held at the Pratt Memorial Chapel Tuesday, November 20, 2018 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM and again Wednesday, November 21, 2018 from 11:00 AM until the time of the service at 12:00 PM. The Pratt Funeral and Cremation Service is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences can be made at prattfuneralservice.com.
