1922—2018 Bruce Kennedy Irwin passed peacefully on April 24, one day shy of his 96th birthday. Born in Vallejo in 1922, Bruce married Marjorie Jones in 1945. They resided in Lakeport and Vallejo, and in 1955 built a home in Napa where they raised two children.

Bruce worked at Mare Island, starting as an apprentice in 1947 and retiring in 1979 after serving as swing shift leading man in the Electronics Shop. Many of his co-workers became life-long friends, including a Wednesday morning breakfast group that meets to this day. Bruce enjoyed life to the fullest, playing golf, camping, birding, and taking road trips around the country; traveling with Margie to Mexico, Africa, Central & South America, Australia & New Zealand.

He was appreciated for accepting people for who they are and graciously taking life as it comes, as well as maintaining an enviable head of hair and a fantastic sense of humor. Bruce was preceded in death by his wife Margie, and is survived by daughter Sue Irwin of Santa Barbara; son Scott Irwin and his wife Lucy Simon of San Rafael; granddaughters Lehla Irwin (Petaluma) and Ariel Parker (Portland OR), and several nieces and nephews. A brief memorial service and lunch in Bruce’s memory will be held at noon this Friday, June 22, 2018, at Tulocay Chapel, 411 Coombsville Rd.
