Elena Alekseevna Kitaeva passed away peacefully in her home in Napa, CA on May 30, 2018. She was with her loving daughter Ksenia Owens when she passed away. Elena was “Babushka” to her grandson Eli.

In her final month she was visited by her son Vadim of Samara, Russia. Elena was born on January 14, 1953 in Ufa, Russia and lived the majority of her life in Samara. She taught Quantum Mechanics as a Professor of Physics at Samara State Aerospace University for over 30 years.

In her younger years she hiked, backpacked, and camped throughout much of Russia. She loved planting flowers at her Garden House outside the city of Samara. Elena would always say, “Zhizn’ prekrasna i udivitel’na” (Life is beautiful and full of wonders.

) A funeral will be held on Saturday June 2, 2018 at Tulocay Cemetery at 10am with a reception to follow.
