Nancy Aldrich Fennie, of Napa, CA passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 1 after complications from pneumonia. Born on April 11, 1949 in Norwood, MA, she was the daughter of the late Ruthe Jessoe and Edgar Aldrich. She graduated from Norwood High School and Boston State College, after which she took a summer off to tour Europe before kick-starting her career.

She was blessed with tremendous intellectual gifts, which she put to use in her Marketing and Advertising career with Ingalls Associates in Boston, and later Bay Area Rapid Transit and Wentworth, Hauser and Violich in San Francisco. In her later years she enjoyed retirement with her husband, Lowell, and their dog, Edgar. She met Lowell Fennie, a widower, when a career move took her to San Francisco.

They married on a beautiful summer day in Napa in 2005, when she became stepmother to Lowell’s two sons, Zak and Joel. This was one of the happiest days of her life, followed by many more with the love and devotion in their family deepening as the boys grew up. Nancy was very proud of Zak and Joel’s musical talents, enjoying numerous performances when they appeared in the Napa Valley.

Nancy will always be remembered as having a great zest for life. She enjoyed travelling and relished new adventures. Her hobbies included cooking, gardening, long drives in her Miata, and feeding visiting hummingbirds.

She remained loyal to the Boston Red Sox and drew great satisfaction from their World Series wins. She was also a dedicated fan of the Boston Celtics, and later in life she became a die hard Golden State Warriors fan and refused to miss a game. Nancy is survived by her husband and two step-sons as well as her brother, Dr. Wayne Aldrich, of Massachusetts, her sister, Meg Aldrich-Ward and husband Chip of Connecticut.

She also leaves behind three nieces, whom she loved very much: Sarah Ward and her fiancé, Sam Moss, of Natick, MA; Molly Ward of Denver, CO; and Abbi Ward, of Mountain View, CA. A graveside service for Nancy will be held at Tulocay Cemetery in Napa, California on Monday July 16 at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Napa Humane Society.
