C. Ray Smith died June 1, 2018, in Medford, OR after a short illness. He was born on August 7, 1934 in Altus, OK. C. Ray was a resident of Del Norte County since 1955.

He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1952-1955 as a Korea Combat Vet, Staff Sergeant, Third Division. C. Ray was employed for 33 years as a sales manager at Country Maid Dairy. He was later employed at Shop Smart until his retirement.

C. Ray served on the Crescent City, City Council from… Read More » 1979-2002 where he served as a councilman and seven times as Mayor. He served on many committees and was very involved in his community. C. Ray was a Crescent City Volunteer Firefighter for over 30 years.

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and a former Knights of Columbus member. C. Ray and his wife Nancy enjoyed volunteering for the Homeward Bound Golden Retriever Foster Program. They fostered many Golden Retrievers.

C. Ray is survived by his wife Nancy of 62 years. His children: Beth Enea (Richard), David Smith (Theresa), Susan Charlesworth (Reggie) and Tom Smith (Ellen). Grandchildren: Mary, Rich, Dave, Tressen, Tristan, Dan, Sarah, Neil, Randi, Taylor, Joe and 14 great grandchildren.

Survived by brothers in law and a sister in law, nieces, nephews and many friends. C. Ray was preceded in death by his parents Virgil and Mildred Smith, by his brother Tommie Joe Smith and his grandson Brent Senf. No memorial services will be held.
