Obituary for Cargill Hermanso Alleyne Cargill Hermanso Alleyne, age 83, originally from Georgetown, Guyana, was called to rest on Thursday April 26th, 2018 at his home in Evans, GA surrounded by his loving family. Cargill Alleyne, Sr. was a dedicated educator who obtained a Masters of Economics at University of Bangor, Wales. He was the chief economist at the Bank of Guyana for several years and also consulted for the International Monetary Fund.

Mr. Alleyne loved life, kept many devoted childhood friends and had an infectious laugh. He loved teaching and was passionate about helping and inspiring people. Cargill Alleyne, Sr. was the son of the late Alton Alleyne and Vashti Alleyne and was also preceded in death by sisters Hermie Amos, Regina Mordle, and brother Clement Alleyne.

He was the devoted husband of Linnette Shirley Alleyne for over 54 years. Linnette Alleyne was a former teacher and headmistress of Bishops’ High School, Guyana. He is also survived by his son, Dr. Cargill Herley Alleyne of Martinez, GA; daughter, Dr. Carlin Ann Alleyne of Owings Mills, MD; sister Veronica Perry of Brooklyn, NY; and daughter-in-law Dr. Audrey Stapleton Alleyne, grandson Nathan Cargill Alleyne, and granddaughter, Nicole Janine Alleyne all of Martinez, GA.

He was also uncle and cousin to members of the Amos family of NY, NJ and Guyana; the Alleyne family of Barbados and Guyana; the Perry family of NY and the UK; the Thompson family of MD; and the Payne family of the UK. The funeral services will be held at United Methodist Church in Lanham, MD at 10:30 a.m. with visitation at 9:30 am on Saturday, May 12th, 2018. Reverend Nathaniel Thomas will officiate.

Interment will follow at George Washington Cemetery in Adelphi, MD. A prior evening visitation will be held from 6 to 8 pm Friday, May 11th, 2018 at Jenkins Funeral Home in Landover, MD. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made for cancer research to The American Cancer Society.
