Carl Emmit Bishop, age 96, of Douglas, Georgia passed away on Wednesday October 31, 2018 at Lakeside Assisted Living Home. Mr. Bishop was born on April 1, 1922 in Emanuel County, Georgia the son of the late Lott Bishop and Eunice Bishop. Mr. Bishop was retired as a Public Health Inspector with the State of Georgia, was a WWII veteran of the United States Army where he received three Purple Hearts, Bronze Star, Silver Star and a Combat Infantry Badge.

He was also a member of the First United Methodist Church, Douglas, Georgia. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Margie Bishop and a sister, Norma Durden. Survivors include a daughter, Mary Veal of Douglas, GA; three granddaughters, Holly Veal of New Orleans, LA, Rev.

Rosie Veal of Douglas, GA and Laura Veal of Albuquerque, NM; three great grandchildren, Evan Jensen of Savannah, GA, Henry Frier of Atlanta, GA and Molly Frier of Atlanta, GA. Funeral services will be held on Saturday November 3, 2018 at 4:00pm at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Doug Walker and Rev.

Rosie Veal officiating. Interment will follow at Douglas City Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 4 until 7pm at Sims Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to First United Methodist Preschool or Habitat for Humanity. Sympathy may be expressed by signing the online registry at www. simsfuneralhome.com.
