OBITUARY Carlis “Poppa” L. Venable April 24, 1930 – December 15, 2018 Carlis L. Venable of Odenville, Alabama passed away on Saturday, December 15, 2018, at the age of 88. He was born on April 24, 1930, to the late James Earl and Ovella Venable. Carlis is preceded in death by his wife, Audrey Venable (Gran); daughter, Marilyn Boatwright; son, Mickey Venable; grandson, Brandon Boatwright; and granddaughter, Angela Venable.

Carlis proudly served his country in the United States Army and is a veteran of the Korean War. He was also a long time member and deacon at New Lebanon Baptist Church. Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Teresa Brooks (Frank); son, Steven Venable; grandson, Michael Brooks (Kiesha); three granddaughters, Leeanne Mooney (Thomas); Lene’ Venable; and Leah Armbrust (Bryan); eleven great-grandsons; one great-granddaughter; two sisters, Jessie Garrison and Faye Garrison; special friend, Frances Graham; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be at Ridout’s Trussville Chapel on Tuesday, December 18, 2018, from 5-8 pm. A funeral service will be at New Lebanon Baptist Church on Wednesday, December 19, 2018, at 11:00 am. He will lie in state for one hour prior to service time.

Burial will follow in New Lebanon Baptist Cemetery.
