Obituary for Mr. Carlton Quinn Shanton Carlton Quinn Shanton, 63, of Hedgesville, WV entered into eternal rest on Wednesday November 14, 2018, at Inova Fairfax Hospital. Quinn was born August 3, 1955 to Rosa Lee Shanton and the late Norman G. Shanton. Carlton known to all as Quinn attended Jefferson High School where he played football and basketball.

After which, he enlisted in the United States Army at age 17. He served as an officer in the army and participated in the final years of the Vietnam War. He was later honorably discharged from the army in 1975.

He was a member of St. Johns Baptist Church and was a man of many talents and trades. He held several jobs after the service including at the VA Hospital and Fort Detrick Army base. Quinn was a diehard Miami Heat and Baltimore Ravens fan, loved fitness and strength training, dancing and being the loudest one at his grandson’s events.

Quinn leaves to cherish his memory: his mother, Rosa Lee Shanton; his son, Quincy Randolph; his daughter, Whitley Shanton (Anthony); two grandsons, Braylen and Kayson Knight; four brothers, Vincent Shanton (Janice), Bruce Shanton (Consuelo), Gregory Shanton (Michelle), and Todd Shanton (Melissa); four sisters, Scarlett Shanton, Roxanne Shanton, Regina Edwards (Yates), Margaret Rice (Andre); four aunts, Betty Washington, Eleanor Braxton, Wanda Brown and Patricia Harrison; one uncle Tommy Washington (Stella); longtime friend and mother of the children; Eva Harris and beloved dog, Rain. Quinn was proceeded in death by: his father, Norman G Shanton; paternal grandparents, William and Mary Hopewell; maternal grandparents, Thomas and Fannie Washington; maternal aunts, Joan Williams, Virginia Brown, Anna Hall and Mary Thomas. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 24, 2018 at St. Johns Baptist Church, 320 W German St, Shepherdstown, WV 25443 at 11:00 am.
