George Franklin Patterson December 11, 1937 – December 21, 2018 George Franklin Patterson, 81, of Frederick, Maryland passed away on December 21, 2018. He was born on December 11, 1937 at Maine Medical in Portland Maine to Cyril F. and Beatrice (Robbins) Patterson. George grew up in South Portland and graduated in 1956 from South Portland High school.

After graduation, he attended Boston University graduating with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. He went on to have a career at the U.S. Census Bureau as a Statistician, where he worked for over 30 years before retiring in 1994. He served in the US Army for 2 years at Fort Meade in Maryland.

In June of 1962, he met his wife Elsie Lee Young. They were married in December of 1962 in Frederick at All Saints Episcopal Church. They spent their first years of marriage residing in Silver Spring while he was serving at Fort Meade.

During this time Elsie Lee Worked at the Atomic Energy Commission in Germantown and Washington, DC. They moved to Rockville then to Gaithersburg where they bought their first home living there for almost 30 years. After retirement, they moved to Frederick.

Born: December 11, 1937 Death: December 21, 2018 He enjoyed bowling in the senior league on Tuesdays at Terrace Lanes. When George was younger he played golf every Saturday, as well as basketball with his coworkers from the Census Bureau. He also enjoyed working on crossword puzzles.

He was a member of the BPO Elks Club, and the All Saints Episcopal Church. George is survived by his beloved wife Elsie Lee, son Mark, brother James Patterson and wife Pauline, nephew Bill Patterson and his wife Parisa and son, godson Mark Brandenburg and wife Sue and children. Cousins located in Maine: Theodore Robbins and wife, Dr. Francis Robbins and wife, Bryan Robbins and wife, and Patricia Leigh Robbins.

He is predeceased by his parents, Uncles, Aunts, and cousin Anne Robbins. The family wishes to thank the staff of Hospice of Frederick County and the staff members of Right at Home, and George’s caregivers, Brenda and Patricia. The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. on Friday, December 28, 2018 at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick, MD.

Funeral Services will be held at 11a.m. on Saturday, December 29, 2018 with an hour prior of viewing. The Rev. Jerry Beall will officiate.

A special song will be sung by Mrs. Joyce Weedon. Interment will follow at the Ijamsville Methodist Church Cemetery, Ijamsville, Maryland.
