Obituary for Carmela D’Alterio Carmela D’Alterio, age 94, of Orange, CT passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on December 18, 2018. Born in Alvignanello-Caserta, Italy, Carmela came to the United States with her loving husband in 1975. She was a devout catholic and member of Saint Louis Parish.

Widow of Saverio D’Alterio, beloved husband of 68 years until his passing in 2012. Mother of Maria (Nino) Troiano of Orange, Ninetta (Bernardino) Giano of West Haven and the late Pasqualino D’Alterio. Grandmother of Maina (John) Rufrano, Frank Troiano, Michele (Anthony) Fino, Linda (John) Armstrong, great grandmother of Talia, Marcello, Giancarlo, Gabrielle, Anthony Jr., Alexandra, Frank Jr., Derek, John John and Samuel.

She was predeceased by her parents Filippo D’Alterio and Ninetta Gaudio and her siblings Michele, Giuseppe, Giovanni and Concettina. Carmela was the family matriarch. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, all which were roles she cherished.

She had impeccable style and grace which she always showed throughout her life. A of strength and support to all of those around her, she loved nothing more than to spend time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be missed by all.

A visitation will be held on Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the West Haven Funeral Home at the Green. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint John Vianney Church at 11:00 a.m. Entombment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association at www.
