Carmella Matthews, 60, left us peacefully on January 4, 2019 with family beside her at Mosaic Life Care Center in St. Joseph, Missouri. Carmella was born October 6, 1958 in Kansas City, Missouri to Joenelle and James Bell. Carmella Graduated from Lincoln High and attended University of Phoenix.

During those years she met her loving husband Richard Matthews. Where they joined and had five beautiful children LeQueta, Joseph, Richtreska, Richard and Ebony. Carmella began her career at UMB and Commerce Bank for several years.

Her passion for banking helped led her into a career with the Internal Revenue Service. After 25-year-old dedicating her time, she retired in 2016. Directly following retirement, she was able to pursue the things she loved to do.

Carmella enjoyed traveling, playing cards, watching movies, laughing, and most of all being around FAMILY. Carmella accepted Christ at a very young age. She knew the LORD very well.

Her favorite scripture was PHILI 4:13 “I can do all things through CHRIST who gives me STRENGTH”. She believed in those words because she fought until her last breath. Carmella resided at “Anointed House of Glory with pastor Drawing and sister Niel.

Carmella was preceded in death by maternal grandparent Lula and Horace Adams, father James Bell, Children Richtreska and Joseph Bell, Aunts Julia Adams and Betty Ridgell. Carmella leaves to cherish her memories to her husband Richard Matthews; mother, Joenelle Bell; two daughters, Lequeta Foster (Steven) and Ebony Bell; son, Richard Bell; 7 grandchildren, Te’Aun Bell (Brandon), Ariane Bell, Toy’Aun Williams-Bell, Mikyla Matthews, Christopher Frye, Khamari Frye, Chevy Frye; three aunts, Lexter Adams, Carolyn Adams and Bertlee Bell; uncle, Joeann Mconnel; also a host of family and friends of Kansas City, Missouri.
