Carol A. (Naughton) Robinson, 84, of Westfield and Cotuit, MA passed away at home on Friday, February 8, surrounded by her loving children. Born October 30, 1934 in Worcester, MA, Carol was the daughter of James and Catherine Naughton. She was a graduate of the Westfield Public Schools and Westfield State College.

Carol was best known as the Director of the Church of the Atonement Nursery School, serving in that role for 22 years. Prior to that, she was the founding Director of the Open Door Nursery School. Carol’s career in education began at Southampton Road School in Westfield, where she taught 1st grade.

She retired in 1994 to pursue her passion for knitting. What began as a hobby, blossomed into a booming “cottage” business. Carol knitted designer samples for Susan Bristol, participated in juried craft fairs, and opened her small business, “Saltbox Woolens”.

Carol enjoyed spending summers on Cape Cod at her beloved Cotuit home. Early morning walks to the town docks, dinner at the Hyannis Yacht Club, and spending time with the “Loop Ladies” at Loop Beach brought her joy. Carol was predeceased by her husband of 49 years, Robert Robinson who passed away in 2007.

She is survived by her brother James Naughton of Landsdale, PA, and sister Susan Neff, of Wayzata, MN. She was also predeceased by her brother John Naughton in 2018. Carol leaves her son Michael and his wife Elizabeth of Succasunna, NJ; daughter Kathleen Hedge and husband Bryan of Westfield; daughter Pamela Robinson and partner Keith LeBlanc of Feeding Hills.

She also leaves her beloved grandchildren: Andy Robinson, Connor Hedge and wife Crystal Hope, Kara Hedge and partner Jim Nolan, Tory Hedge, Michael Champagne, great-granddaughter Kensley “Vitamin K” Hedge, and many nieces and nephews. Carol’s children wish to thank friends and family who supported her throughout her illness with their generous spirits, senses of humor, and extraordinary compassion. Heartfelt thanks also to hospice nurse Andrea and caregiver Shelley.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, February 15, 2018, from 4-7 pm at the Firtion-Adams Funeral Home, 76 Broad St., Westfield, MA. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Church, 30 Bartlett Street, Westfield, MA, at 11:00 am, with an opportunity to pay last respects at the Firtion-Adams Funeral Home at 10:00 am on Saturday, February 16, 2018. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Mary’s Prayer Shawl Ministry, 30 Bartlett Street, Westfield, MA, 01085, and Friends of the Cotuit Library, PO Box 648, Cotuit, MA, 02635.
