Carol Ann Elliott- Statsick, 75 of Charlevoix, MI was called home to God on September 17, 2018 at 12:30 am from a sudden stroke while vacationing in Alaska. Carol was born on April 12th, 1943 to the late Vernon and Mary Jane Legg. Carol was a loving and devoted sister, wife, mother and grandmother.

She was loved by all who knew her. Carol’s profound faith in God and her willingness to serve others defined her as a person. She began her teaching career at St. Mary’s Catholic School followed by 35 years at the Charlevoix Elementary school where she was a favorite of her students.

Carol was delighted with the time she spent with her grandchildren and her passions included reading, gardening and helping others. Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Elliott, who she shared a wonderful life with for 49 years before his death in 2015. In 2016, Carol met and married Ken Statsick, fellow parishioner of St. Mary’s Church.

Ken and Carol shared the understanding that they were brought together through their faith in God. In the short time they were married, the couple spent their time together traveling, wintering in Florida and enjoying each other’s presence. Carol is survived by both of her children, Shawn (Stephen) Massa of Valparaiso, IN; Patrick (Ashlie) Elliott of Charlevoix, MI; sisters Marie (Jim) of Camden, NY; Christine (Jim) Davis of Brighton, MI; Louise (Jim) Austin of Alden, MI; Marty (Mike) Enochs of Stomping Ground, KY; grandchildren Elizabeth Anne, Katherine Elaine, Maddie Lynn and Sophie Ann, along with many nieces, nephews in both the Legg and Elliott families.

She is also survived by her husband, Kenneth Dale Statsick of Charlevoix, MI and his children Kenneth Micheal Statsick of Clearwater, FL; Richard (Elizabeth) Statsick of Sartell, MN; Daniel Statsick of Chanssen, MN; Annemarie (Patrick) Conway of Charlevoix, MI; Stephen (Nora) Statasick of Madison, WI along with many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Funeral Mass will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 24 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Charlevoix with Fr. Peter Wigton officiating.

Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to mass on Monday as well as on Sunday, September 23, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with recitation of the rosary beginning at 6:30 p.m. also at the church. Memorial contributions in Carol’s name may be directed to St. Mary Catholic School’s Angel Fund to help with tuition for students. Arrangements are being handled by the Winchester Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.
