Obituary for Carol M. Pogue Sadly, we lost our beloved Carol M. Pogue. She came into this world on March 5, 1931 and went to rest in Christ on September 1, 2018. She was the matriarch of the Pogue Family and 4th eldest of our family totaling over 2000 and counting.

We trace her roots back to 1847, of the Churchill-Burns generation. She is preceded in death by her sisters, Emma Ramus, Betty Rucker, and brother, Lester Pogue. She is survived by sisters Barbara Roberts, Joann Henry, Sally Adams and Brenda Pogue.

Although she never married, she was a mother figure to many nieces and nephews. She was born in Marysville, graduated from Yuba College in 1952, and graduated from nursing school in 1955. Notably, she was a LVN at Rideout Memorial Hospital for 40 years.

She was a Merrymaker from age 18 for 52 years and lifelong member of Bethel AME Church with her ancestors founding the church in 1853. Carol sporadically attended the Catholic Church in Marysville. She is known for her strong faith in our Lord Jesus, and dedication of helping others, with no regard to race or religion.

She was the guiding force and comfort, instilling the values of faith, education, hard work, honor, and nurturing to each and every one of us who were blessed to have known her. Services will be held at Bethel AME Church on Saturday, September 15, 2018. Visitation will start at 10:00am, followed by services at 11:00am.

Burial will be at Sierra View Memorial Park, under the direction of Ullrey Memorial Chapel.
