On July 10, 2018, Caroline Emelia Alt left this earth at the age of 89 while residing at the Bridges of Appleton in Appleton, Wisconsin. Caroline was born September 17, 1928 in Rice Lake, Wisconsin to Lawrence Durst and Anna Sophia Louis. Anna died when Caroline was nine months old, leaving her to be raised by her grandparents, Peter and Delilah Louis.

She graduated from high school in Ithaca, Wisconsin and married Andrew Michael Alt on January 21, 1950 in Spring Green, Wisconsin. Andy passed away March 6, 1983. Caroline is remembered most for her creativity, her hard work, and her devotion to God and family.

The jobs she held beyond that of a wife and mother of six children were mill worker, short-order cook, seamstress, and Nurse’s Aide. When time allowed, she focused her creative skills on making beautiful quilts and other needlework, which are cherished by her children and grandchildren. Caroline loved to garden, travel and go camping.

As a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, her faith also helped to define who she was as a strong defender of what is right. She is truly missed by those who know and love her, particularly her children: Vivian (Rea) Thomas, Joan (Robert) Loerke, Stanley Alt, Anna (Geno) Peterson, Bradley (Barbra) Alt, and David (Amy Lawrence) Alt; twelve grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. Her two brothers, Paul and Louis Durst, preceded Caroline in death.

Mass of Christian burial for Caroline will be 11:00 AM on Saturday July 21, 2018 at ST. JOSEPH CATHOLIC CHURCH, 410 W. Lawrence St; Appleton, with Fr. Jim Leary officiating.

Visitation will be held at the church Saturday morning beginning at 9:00 until 10:45 AM, with Mass to follow at 11:00 AM. Inurnment will be at Highland Memorial Park. A debt of gratitude goes out to the Angels at Bridges of Appleton and Compassus Hospice who provided loving care for Caroline when she could no longer do it for herself.

May the Lord bless and keep you, Caroline, until we see you again.
