OBITUARY Carolyn Hambleton October 15, 1929 – August 28, 2018 Carolyn D. Hambleton of South Dartmouth, the wife of renowned sculptor Bud Hambleton, died following a short illness on August 28, 2018 surrounded by her children at St. Luke’s Hospital, New Bedford. She was 88. Mrs. Hambleton, the daughter of Helen Jones, was born in Hazelton, Pennsylvania, later moving as a child to Rochester, N.Y., where she met her future husband after his military service in World War II.

At the time of his death, in 2002, they had been married 55 years. She worked for many years at the Jared Coffin House, on Nantucket, Massachusetts, where she and her husband made their home after leaving the Rochester area in 1972. Mrs. Hambleton also managed the Hambleton Gallery, on South Wharf, Nantucket, which featured the arc-welded sculptures of her husband along with the works of other painters and sculptors.

Mrs. Hambleton, a graduate of West High School in Rochester, was a lifelong avid reader. She also enjoyed baseball, Frank Sinatra and jazz, crossword puzzles, gardening, and bird-watching. She is survived by her four children and their families: Mark and Carrie Hambleton, and Emily, of Middletown, R.I.; Steven and Donna Gage Hambleton, of Bourne, Massachusetts, and Kimberly, Kristen, Joshua, Isaiah, Aaron, and Seth; Karen Hambleton and her husband, James Hanrahan, of South Dartmouth, Massachusetts, and Colleen and Griffin; and Judith Hambleton and her husband, Kevin Kinsella, of West Greenwich, R.I.
