OBITUARY Dorothy Martin March 18, 1929 – October 27, 2018 Play Tribute Movie Dorothy (Reis) Martin, 89, of Acushnet, passed away on Saturday, October 27, 2018 in the New Bedford Jewish Convalescent Home surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Wallace I. Martin. She was born in New Bedford, a daughter of the late Joseph and Amelia (Anacleto) Reis.

Dorothy was a graduate of New Bedford High School. She loved and adored her family. She was employed at St. Luke’s Hospital as a Home Health Aide until her retirement.

She loved traveling, bingo, watching movies and most of all ballroom dancing. In her spare time she volunteered at local schools, reading to the children. Dorothy was a Big Sister and was involved in the Widowed Persons Service.

Survivors include two daughters, Darlene Doulette and her husband Robert of Middleboro, and Sandra LeBlanc and her husband Donald of Acushnet; a son, Wallace Martin and his companion Monica Lindo of Mattapoisett, MA and Venice, Florida; two sisters, Mariana Nunes and Matilda Fernandes, both of New Bedford; six grandchildren, Derek, Luke, Meghan, Brandon, Lauren and Alison, eight great-grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Casilda Sylvia, Mary Barboza, Emily Gonsalves, Frank, John, and Manuel Reis. Her visitation will be held on Thursday, November 1, 2018 from 4:00-8:00PM in the ROCK Funeral Home, 1285 Ashley Blvd.

, New Bedford. Her funeral will be held on Friday, November 2, 2018 at 10:00AM at St. Francis Xavier Church, 125 Main St., Acushnet. Burial will be in Acushnet Cemetery.
