Carolyn M. Puite, age 93, a life long resident of Grand Rapids passed away with her family at her side on Friday, April 27, 2018, while in residence at the Clark Retirement Community. Mrs. Puite was born in Byron Center, MI on Dec. 16, 1924 the daughter of Frederick and Minnie VerStrat.

She attended Lee High School in Wyoming, where she was the Head Majorette of the High School Band. After graduation she married her high school sweetheart, Dr. Robert Puite, who preceded her in death on April 3, 2012. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Willard VerStrat.

A wonderful wife, mother and grandmother she enjoyed sharing her cooking abilities with her family. She was also a witty conversationalist; her idioms and her use of them have been passed on to three generations. She was also a volunteer at Blodgett Hospital, where she was a member of the Richard Root Smith Guild.

Surviving are her three children, Karen and John Keuter, Gayle and Paul Rissi, Charles and Pamela Puite; 8 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and two brothers, Randall and Mary Kay VerStrat, Roger VerStrat and many nieces and nephews. In keeping with her wishes cremation has taken place and a family memorial service will be held at a later date. For those who wish memorial contributions in Carolyn’s memory may be made to the Clark Community Employees Fund.
