Born September 15, 1938 in Hot Springs, Arkansas to Richard C. & Maulene Ward Wright, Carolyn Wright Crouse was destined to spread joy throughout her days. She married Don F. Crouse in Hot Springs, Arkansas, December 5, 1958. Together they raised 3 children, Donna, Keith and David.

In 1966 they left Arkansas for Blairsville, Ga. , then New Bern, NC and then in 1969, Don joined the Nantahala District and they settled in Otto, NC. While Don worked for the Forest Service, Carolyn was known for her decorations.

She decorated cakes and floral arrangements as well as many ceramics and loved to craft. Since Don spent many years coaching Little League baseball, Carolyn was often seen at the concession stands and in the bleachers, she never missed a practice. She hosted many Cub Scout meetings in her home for Don and his Webelos Troop.

Their home was where summer Sunday softball games were hosted for the youth of Newman Chapel Church while adults churned ice cream. Carolyn played the piano for the church for over 40 years. She worked the Otto School Cafeteria and those who attended remember well her cinnamon and chocolate rolls.

She loved to bake and we loved to eat. After Don passed in 1989, Carolyn spent her time visiting the elderly, which eventually led to her employment in home health care. Early morning September 16, 2018 in Columbus, Mississippi, where she has lived to be close to Keith and her daughter-in-law, Carol Lynn, Carolyn peacefully slipped away with Donna and Keith by her side.

Though her granddaughter, Leah Crouse and great-grandson Troy Walker join the remaining family as we grieve our loss, we are heartened to know she has joined Don and David. Family and friends are invited to come together to remember this wonderful woman who blessed all with her joy and her service for 80 years. Sunday services will be October 7, 2018, 2:00 pm at Newman Chapel Baptist Church, by Pastor Ricky Potts.

The ladies of Newman Chapel will serve in the fellowship hall immediately following. Come join us in fellowship with our Mother, grandmother and great-grandmother as we celebrate a life well lived. The family asks that instead of flowers, you make a donation in Carolyn’s honor to Palmer Home For Children, P.O. Box 746, Columbus, MS 39703, Franklin House or Grandview Manor, Franklin, NC, St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Newman Chapel Baptist Church, 60 Mulberry Road, Otto, NC, or the charity of your choice.

Through your donation, her service continues.
