Carrie I. Carnathan, 91, of Annville, passed away on Wednesday, January 30, 2019, at the Lebanon Valley Home, Annville. She was the wife of the late James H. Carnathan. Born in Ono on August 6, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Grant and Sallie Seibert Walmer.

She spent her early life on various farms throughout the county with her family. In 1948, she began working at the Hershey Factory, and while there she met her future husband. During those years of being married, she cultivated a love of cooking and hospitality.

Unfortunately, her husband passed away in 1964. She then moved her family back to Lebanon County. For over 20 years, she had worked as a waitress for the former Chicken Licken, now known as Funck’s Restaurant at Indiantown Gap.

As a waitress she was involved in the Easter Seals “Buck-a-Cup” campaign. From 1982-1987, she was 1st place in Lebanon County, and for four years she was either in 2nd or 3rd place. After retiring, Carrie’s main passion became gardening, entertaining and serving her church, Faith U.C.C. in Grantville.

In 2010, she moved to the Lebanon Valley Home and continued her love of gardening and was especially proud of the hyacinth beans she grew for the community. She also loved feeding peanuts to the squirrels at the home. She had the nickname “Squirrel Lady”.

She is survived by her son Robert M. and his wife Cindy of Tower City and her grandson Titus Carnathan of Tower City. She was preceded in death by her son James D. Carnathan, brothers Harvey D., Moses F., Grant A., and Paul E. Walmer, and sisters Amanda E. Phillippy, Cora B. Savidge, Margaret K. Walmer, Eva M. Brown, Dora E. Jones, Edna M., Sallie P., and Annie M. Walmer. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 6, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. at the Kreamer & Lum Funeral Home & Crematory, Rt.

72 & Camp Meeting Rd. , Jonestown. A viewing will be held beginning at 9:45 a.m. until the start of the service.

Interment will follow at the Zion Lutheran Cemetery, E. Hanover Twp. , Lebanon County. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Reinertown Vol.
