Carson Stinnett, 83, of Amherst passed away, Thursday, December 6, 2018 at his home. Born in Amherst County, September 2, 1935, Carson was the son of the late Clinton Carroll and Grace Campbell Stinnett. He was retired as a teaching assistant with Amherst County Schools and was a member of Bethel Baptist Church for many years.

Surviving are his wife, Delores “Dee” Hudson Stinnett of Amherst; son, Tony Stinnett (Lora) of Amherst, brothers: Hal Stinnett (Ann) of Amherst, Roger Stinnett (Barbara) of Amherst , and Calvin Stinnett (Janet) of Lynchburg; sisters: Edith Watts of Amherst, and Judy Davis (Terry) of Brookneal; grandson, Mark Andrew Stinnett, sister-in-law, Patricia “Pat” Stinnett of Amherst, special friend, Doris Moyer and many nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am, Saturday, December 8, 2018 at Driskill Funeral Chapel, Amherst with Pastor Dave Peters officiating. Interment will follow in Amherst Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 10 until 11 am, Saturday at the funeral home. Casual Dress is preferred. Memorial contributions may be made to Amherst Life Saving Crew, P.O. Box 193, Amherst, VA 24521 or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept.
