Catherine A. Durst, 86, of Payson, IL passed away at 5:34 AM Saturday, April 14, 2018 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL. Arrangements for cremation are under the direction of the James O’Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal, MO. There are no services planned at this time.

Catherine was born July 16, 1931, in New Bedford, Mass. to Walter and Alice Gierlanski Leger. She was married to Joseph Lee “Junior” Durst on June 3, 1950 in New Bedford, Mass.

Survivors include four children, Diann Smith of Payson, IL, David Durst of Hannibal, MO, Dennise Storm (David) of Toluca, IL, and Dennis Durst (Cathy) of Hannibal, MO; two sisters, Alice Castor of Ft. Myers, Florida and Shirley Charbonneau of Fair Haven, Mass.

; nine grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. Also surviving are nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Catherine was a homemaker. Catherine enjoyed knitting baby blankets and latch hook rugs. She liked to read books, especially Stephen King novels.

She took pleasure in taking trips back to Massachusetts every summer to watch the fishing boats. Most of all, Catherine cherished the time she was able to spend with her family. Catherine was a Catholic by faith.
