Catherine S. Sweigert, 98, of Cressona, passed away Friday, November 2nd, at Providence Place, Drums. Born in Cressona, on December 21, 1919, a daughter of the late Sarah M. (Reiger) and Earl A. Kline. She was the widow of Allen E. Sweigert, Sr. whom she married October 14, 1944.

Catherine was a graduate of Cressona High School and Kutztown College. She was a member of St. Mark’s United Church of Christ Cressona, where she taught Sunday School and sung in the Church Choir. Catherine taught at Port Carbon High School, Cressona High School and Schuylkill Haven High School.

She was a member of Cressona Eastern Star P.S.E.A. Schuylkill Chapter. Surviving are sons Al, Jr., and John, two grandchildren Jessica M. Sweigert and Jeremy A. Sweigert, great grandson Braxton A. Hines.

A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be held at St. Mark’s United Church of Christ, Cressona, at 10:30 am on Tuesday, November 6th, with Rev. Kevin Fruchtl officiating. A viewing for family and friends will be held Tuesday 9:30 am until the time of the service at the Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Marks United Church of Christ P.O. Box 55 Cressona, PA 17929. Interment will be at Cressona Cemetery Cressona.
