Cathy Marie (nee Davis) Von Rissen, of West Harrison, passed away on January 19, 2019 at the age of 60. She was born on June 21, 1958 in Cincinnati, Ohio to James M. and Roberta J (nee Williams) Davis. She was the little sister of Edwin “Ed” and Richard Davis.

Her father died and her mother remarried Walter Garrett, who became her second dad. Cathy married Frederick Von Rissen on her birthday June 21, 1986 and she instantly became a bonus mom to 7 children: Teri, Toni, Traci, Michael, Jennifer, Jill and Freddie. Cathy and Fred were blessed with Corey to round out their family of 8 children.

Cathy worked for Campbell Hausfeld for a few years and then went to work for Gulley Log Homes and First Choice Storage. Due to health issues she was no longer able to work and took on the full time role of Grandma. Cathy enjoyed music, art, crocheting.

However, she LOVED being a grandma and great grandma to her 17 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Those left to cherish her memory are her loving and devoted husband Fred Von Rissen; children and their spouses: Corey (Brittany) Von Rissen, Teri (Tim) Rowe, Toni (Eric) Heidel, Traci (Jon) Dials, Michael (Stephanie Celek) Von Rissen, Jennifer (Mike) Ingram, and Jill Von Rissen; Cherished grandchildren: Markus, Christoph, Kayla, Avery, Thomas, Devon, Jessica, Jacob & Josh, Madison, Mason, Tristan, Brooklyn, Michael, Roy, Freddie, Tiffany, Tristan and Jordan; Beloved great grandchildren: Anthony, Kennedy, Rylei and another great grandchild on the way; brother: Richard (Jenee Clark) Davis; and sister-in-law: Judy Brown. Cathy was preceded in death by her parents: James Monroe Davis, Roberta Jean Garrett; Bonus father: Walter Garrett; bonus son: Freddie Von Rissen; and brother Ed Davis.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at Brater Winter Funeral Home, 201 S. Vine St., Harrison, OH 45030 from 11 AM until the time of the funeral service at 1 PM with Pastor Jeff Duerler presiding. Graveside to follow at Bridgetown Cemetery. The family asks that memorials can be made to Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, Checks made payable to: IPF Foundation may be brought to the visitation and the funeral home will send in and notify the family.
