Obituary for Cecyl “Lucille” Cowan Lucille Cowan, 93, of Durham, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 26, 2018, at the Paradise Hospice House. She was born August 1, 1925 to the late Cecil and Sara Franklin. Lucille was a graduate of Durham High School.

She began her twenty-five-year Medical Assistant career working for the late Dr. Gibson in Chico, Ca. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Roscoe Brinson, the father of her children, in 1956, and then by her second husband, Jater Cowan, in 1995. Lucille is survived by her children, Janet Brinson and David Brinson both of Durham, CA; her grandchildren, Jennifer McCrillis and her husband John McCrillis of Driggs, Idaho; Christiann Brinson and her fiancé Josh Berry of Fayetteville, Arkansas; and D.J. Brinson and his fiancée Kristina Parkerson of Chico, California.

Lucille was a woman of faith who loved God. Lucille loved spending time with her many friends and family. She enjoyed the family cabin in Butte Meadows, meeting friends for lunch, playing cribbage, going to church, and reading.

Lucille was a beloved figure in the town of Durham, where she was born and raised. She was known for her class, grace, and endless generosity, and was admired by all who knew her. She was loved by many and will be missed by all.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, October 5, at the Brusie Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Glen Oaks Cemetery. The Pastor Lance Smith will officiate.
