Charles B. Kramer “Chuck,” age 70, at rest on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 after a courageous fight to overcome a spinal cord injury. Charles is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Catherine A. Kramer (nee Wolf); children, Gloria M. Kramer, Melanie L. (Ralph Garcia) Kramer, Laura E. (Andrew) Sarata and Sarah A. (Paul) McKinley; grandchildren, Madelyn, Emily and Lillian Sarata; sister, Ruth (Joseph) Tomala; brother-in-law, Rudolph J. (Mary) Wolf; sister-in-law, Mary Jane Wolf; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Loretta (nee Hojnacki) Kramer; numerous aunts and uncles; and most recently, his dear cousin, Michaeline LaBuda.

Charles graduated from Providence Catholic High School and Joliet Junior College. He played in the American Legion Band and was an officer in the Musicians Union Local #37. Chuck had a great love for music and possessed an excellent talent for playing many instruments.

With this talent he devoted many years to playing in his band, Remembrance. Charles was a Police Lieutenant for Joliet Junior College and retired after 31 years of service. He was the current Vice President of KSKJ Lodge #108.

Chuck also was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and enjoyed watching the games. He greatly enjoyed traveling with his wife, visiting 49 of the 50 states. Chuck was a devoted husband, father and brother who will be dearly missed.

He loved his granddaughters unconditionally and they loved to warm his heart and brighten his day. In lieu of flowers, the Kramer family asks that you honor Charles with donations in his name to Next Steps of O’Connor Foundation. A celebration of Charles’ life will begin on Sunday, October 21, 2018 with a visitation at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road, Joliet from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The family invites relatives and friends to gather on Monday, October 22, 2018 at St. Mary Immaculate Catholic Church in Plainfield for a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at 11:00 a.m. There will be no procession from the funeral home.
