Davidson, 83 Charles E. Davidson, age 83 of Gate City, VA went to be with the Lord Friday, February 1, 2019 at his residence. He was born in Gate City, VA on November 17, 1935, and was the son of the late Johnny Bradley and Janey Mae Akers Davidson. In addition to his parents Charles was also preceded in death by a brother, Harlan (Beaver) Davidson and an infant sister, Judith Ann Davidson.

He was a loving husband and attended Copper Creek Community Baptist Church. He was a proud veteran of the US Army and retired from ASG Greenland after 36 years. Mr. Davidson is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mataleen “Mat” Davidson; a son, Jeff Davidson (Susan); grandchild, Heather Smith (Derrick); great grandchild and his pride and joy, Noah Smith; 2 sisters, Dorothy S. Lawson and Mary A. Fansler; 3 brothers, Jack Davidson (Patsy), Johnny B. Davidson (Janice) and Billy Joe Davidson; several nieces and nephews and too many special friends to mention.

The family will receive friends Monday, February 4, 2019 from 5 to 7 PM at Colonial Funeral Home, Weber City, VA and anytime at the residence. Funeral service will follow at 7 PM with Pastor Clayton Williams and Evangelist Gene Stallard officiating. Graveside service will be held Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at 11 AM in the Holston View Cemetery.

Military honors will be provided by the American Legion Post #3/265 and Virginia National Guard, with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Barney Gillenwater, Garney Gillenwater, Roy C. Gillenwater and Milburn Mann. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 10:50 AM The family wishes to extend special thanks to niece and caregiver, Debra Burk.
