Charles Richards Fletcher of Birmingham, Alabama, passed away at this home in Birmingham at the age of 67. Mr. Fletcher was born on April 24, 1951 and was the son of the late Dr. Donald F. Fletcher, Jr. and Virginia Richards Fletcher. Growing up in Horsey and Atlantic, on the Eastern Shore of Virginia, he enjoyed sports and the outdoors, especially duck hunting.

Mr. Fletcher also enjoyed gardening, including vegetables and roses. Mr. Fletcher attended Temperanceville Elementary School and was a member of the Atlantic High School class of 1969. After graduating for AHS, Mr. Fletcher attended and graduated from his beloved University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, where he served as president of his fraternity, Phi Gamma Delta.

An avid supporter and follower the Crimson Tide, Mr. Fletcher attended football games, either in Tuscaloosa or wherever the team played. He received an MBA from the College of William and Mary, and held a variety of jobs in the poultry industry in Delaware and Alabama. Mr. Fletcher is survived by a brother, Richard Ashton Fletcher (Elizabeth) of San Diego, CA, and a sister, Susan Madison Fletcher of Pocomoke City, MD.

He is also survived by a sister-in-law, Linda Hunter Fletcher; nephews, Donald F. Fletcher IV, and Curtis Fletcher; niece, Elenore Fletcher; and several cousins, Sarah Fletcher Bingman, Nancy Fletcher Bisker, and Robley J. Fletcher, Jr. In addition to his parents, Mr. Fletcher was preceded by a brother, Donald F. Fletcher III. Mr. Fletcher will also be remembered by many friends and associates in Virginia and Alabama. Mr. Fletcher was a lifelong and devout Episcopalian.

He was a member and attended Cathedral Church of the Advent in Birmingham, where he served and worked on many church projects and outreach programs. Mr. Fletcher was also a member, and attended whenever he was on the Eastern Shore, his childhood church, Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Jenkins Bridge, Virginia. A memorial service for Mr. Fletcher will be held at Cathedral Church of the Advent, Monday, July 30, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. A service at Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Jenkins Bridge, is being planned, with information shared when available.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Mr. Fletcher’s memory, may be made to a charity of choice. Memory tributes may be shared with the family at www. williamsfuneralhomes.com.
