He was born on June 21, 1934, to the late Elisha Vernon Cunningham and Bernice McKinney Cunningham. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sybilla Johanna Cunningham; brothers, Edward Cunningham, J.W. Cunningham; sisters, Louise Knoerr and Mabel Banks.

Surviving are sisters, Susie Barton and Ona Franklin of Tullahoma, Tennessee; along with numerous nieces and nephews. Fred graduated from Franklin County High School, the University of the South in Sewanee, and completed a master’s degree at the University of Tennessee. He began his career at Reynolds Metals Company in Virginia, where he worked as a controller.

Visitation will be held at Bennett Funeral Home in Mechanicsville on Friday, February 8, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Graveside services will be conducted at Forest Lawn Cemetery on Saturday, February 9, at 11 a.m. Interment to be conducted by Chaplain Steve Scott.
