Charles H. “Buddy” Parsons, 74, of South Charleston, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, May 18, 2019 after a valiant and courageous struggle with congestive heart failure that left him longing for his home in Heaven! Buddy was the son of the late Hughey “Bud” and Anna L. Parsons of St. Albans. Born in St. Albans on March 20, 1945, he graduated St. Albans High School, Class of 1964, where he was a very gifted baseball player.

Buddy had a batting average of 350, and for two years, had the most stolen bases of any team. After graduation, he then served honorably in the United States Army Reserves. Buddy was a life-long lover of wood-working, beginning as an apprentice of his father in the home building business.

He had a deep appreciation of the colors and textures of wood, often saying, “What an artist is our Lord…so brilliant in His creations! ” Buddy has wooden items in the Governor’s Mansion and the State Capitol in Charleston. He became a General Contractor, licensed in 11 states and worked with large corporations such as F.W. Woolworth, Tandy Company and Edson Brothers.

Buddy also loved hunting with his beagle dogs: Lizzy, Katy, Butch, Ginger, Holly, Maggie and Koty who were like his babies. He was a member of Southern West Virginia Beagle Club. Buddy is survived by his devoted companion, Connie Wallace; his two sisters, Charlotte Frye and her husband, Sidney, Vera Atkisson and her husband, Glenn; six nephews, Chris, Philip and Robb Wood, Melissa and Matthew Parsons and Seth Atkisson along with seven great-nieces and nephews and one great-great niece.

A tribute to the life of Charles H. “Buddy” Parsons will be held at 12:30pm Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at Teays Valley Missionary Baptist Church, 3926 Teays Valley Road, Hurricane, WV 25526 with Dr. John D. Smith officiating. Entombment will follow in Graceland Memorial Park, South Charleston. The family will receive friends from 11am-12:30pm at the church.

Buddy loved his church and the fact that they support well over a hundred missionaries. In lieu of flowers, he requested any memorial donations be made to his church’s Missionary Fund. No matter where he went, Buddy always witnessed to others about knowing Jesus as Savior (Ephesians 2: 8-9).

He was truly a “good and faithful servant” and now is enjoying his reward in Heaven. In closing, as he always said…”Pray for the peace of Israel and remember to pray for America! ” You may visit his tribute page at ChapmanFuneralHomes.com to share memories of Buddy with the family.
