Charles R. LoGrande passed away on Thursday, May 24th in Wilkes Barre Pennsylvania. He was born in Passaic New Jersey. He served in the Army during World War II, stationed in Europe as an anti-aircraft gunner.

He was moved to Okinawa for the invasion of Japan which never came due to the ending of the war. Charles met his beloved wife, Mary, at a wedding in Pennsylvania and fell deeply in love with her. They married and resided in Pittston, Pennsylvania for a time.

He then moved with his wife and young family to Clifton New Jersey. He worked as a printer for Halsey Press in Newark from 1956 to 1972. He found a new job printing at All-State Legal Supply in Cranford from 1972 to 1992.

He continued part time there until 1996 when he fully retired. After he retired, he studied, was tested, and received his GED. Charles and Mary bought their first and only home in Colonia, New Jersey living there togther until her passing almost two years ago.

Charles continued living in his home until he had to go into an assisted living facility for the last few months of his life. He was a good and generous man who worked hard for his family. Indeed, he was a family man of the post World War II era.

He enjoyed his home, his back yard, family gatherings both indoor in his home and outdoor on the screened-in patio. He liked to garden. He was a communicant at St. John Vianney Roman Catholic Church in Colonia.

He sang in the church choir there for many years, and enjoyed singing solos at events like weddings and funerals. Charles was predeceased by his loving wife, Mary, and his parents, Anthony and Augustina, his brothers, Sal, Carl and Joseph, and his sister, Rose. Surviving are his children Michele Jones and husband Jeff, Anthony LoGrande and wife Cheryl Ann, and Michael LoGrande and wife Patricia Ann.

Also surviving are 5 grandchildren, Michele Pilch, Michael Netta, Kellie, Michael and Anthony LoGrande and also 3 great grandchildren, Christopher, Sara and Milana also surviving is sister Anne and her husband Tony. Visitation will be Tuesday, May 29 from 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM at Gosselin funeral home, 660 New Dover Road, Edison. A funeral mass will be held for Charles right after visitation, 10:45AM at St. John Vianney Church.

Entombment at St. Gertrude’s cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in his memory to the American Heart Association.
