CHARLES R. “CHUCK” BEER,78, of Parker passed away on Thursday, June 14, at Butler Memorial Hospital. Born in Parker on June 2, 1940, he was the son of the late Robert “”Rudy” Rudolph and H. Virginia “Ginny” Gibson Beer. Chuck was a 1958 graduate of the former Parker High School.

Shortly following graduation, Chuck enlisted in the United States Army serving in Germany. He was United Methodist by faith. In December of 1963, he married the late Suzanne C. Fox Beer, whom passed May 12, 2018.

They shared 55 years of marriage. Chuck was a retired tank inspector from the former Witco Chemical Corporation (Sonneborn) at Petrolia. He was a long-time member serving over 50 years with the Parker City Volunteer Fire Department serving as assistant chief, driving truck, and dispatcher.

Chuck was also a member of the American Legion Post 598 of Parker. Chuck is survived by a daughter, Carrie and husband, Scott Atkins, of Marion, NC. ; and two grandchildren, Marcus Chapman and Crystal Atkins, both of Marion, NC.

; sister, Karen (Mike) Salusky of Emlenton; brother, Larry (Sue) Beer of Parker; four siblings-in-law, Keith (Roberta) Fox of Bruin, Lt. Col. Ret.

Charlotte Fox and husband William Zimmerman of Fayetteville, NC. , Deborah Fox of Summerville, and Sheila (Tim) Elder of Emlenton, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Christina Atkins on May 1, 2015.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, June 18 at H. Jack Buzard Funeral Home, 201 South Wayne Avenue, Parker, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Parker City Vol. Fire Dept.

will conduct a memorial service at 6 p.m. A veterans service will be held at 10:45 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Parker Presbyterian Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Parker City Volunteer Fire Department.
