Charles R. Smulkowski May 11, 1925 – February 02, 2019 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook| View Guest Book Entries| Send Sympathy Card Charles R. “Charlie” Smulkowski, 93, of Salem, NH passed away on Saturday, February 2nd, 2019 at the Holy Family Hospital in Methuen, MA. Charlie was born on May 11, 1925 to the late Julia (Verbickey) and Ralph Smulkowski. He was raised in Lawrence and graduated from Lawrence High School.

Charlie served in the United States Navy Seabees during World War II in the Philippines. Following his service, Charlie went on to work for Oxford Paper Company, H & S Machine Shop, and retired from Klein Associates after many years of working as a Precision Machinist. In his spare time, he loved playing chess, horseshoes, and creating and completing geometric puzzles.

Charlie is survived by his wife of 71 years, Dorothy (Vandecasteele) Smulkowski of Salem, NH; son Robert (Renee) Smulkowski of Olympia, WA; daughter Elizabeth (John) Robertson of Salem, NH; grandson Jake (Darci) Smulkowski and great grandson Micah of Rathdrum, ID as well as several nieces and nephews. Services will be private. Arrangements are in the care of the Carrier Family Funeral Home, 38 Range Road Windham, NH 03087.
