Charles’ Obituary Charles Ray “Willie” Bennett aged 89 of Lyons passed away February 13, 2019 at his home. Charles was born December 5, 1929 in Lyons, Michigan the son of Ray S. and Helen (Comer) Bennett. He graduated from Lyons High School in 1947 and would later enter the Navy where he served for 4 years on a submarine.

Charles then married Arline J. Mourer August 14, 1954 in Lyons. He worked as a Welder for General Motors until his retirement in 1982. Charles was the Treasurer for the Portland Boy Scouts Troop 58 while his 2 boys participated.

He loved Square Dancing, Ball Room Dancing, gardening, playing card games and reading. Surviving are his loving wife of 64 years Arline J. Bennett of Lyons. Children; Steven R. Bennett of Florida, Stanley J. (Sue) Bennett of Oregon and Sharon K. David and Fiancé Jim Streeter of Portland.

Grandchildren; Courtney (Dan) Payne of Holly, Nick Bennett of Ypsilanti. Great grandchildren Mackenzie and Connor Payne. Brother Jim (Bonnie) Bennett.

Sisters Barb (Dick) Kline, Fran Shattuck and Vickie (harry) Brock. Several Nieces and Nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister Karen.

There will be a visitation on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at the Lake Funeral Home in Muir 2-4 p.m. Graveside Services will be held in the Spring at Lyons Cemetery. Online condolences may be made at www.
