Obituary for Charles Richard Sullivan Charles R. Sullivan, age 89 of Calhoun, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 26, 2018 in his home. Charles was born on August 2, 1929 in Gordon County to the late Elbert Sullivan and Elizabeth Hollaran Sullivan. In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by: his wife, Lucille Peace Sullivan; brother, James Sullivan; brother, Billy Sullivan; nephew, Vance Sullivan; brothers-in-law, Herman Stone, Sam Rogers, and Ralph Gray; and sister-in-law, Inez Edwards.

Charles attended Salem Baptist Church where he was a member for over 60 years. He loved attending church and sharing in worship and fellowship with his friends and family. Charles could be found taking daily walks at the Calhoun Recreation Department with his brothers or driving his 1976 maroon Corvette Stingray around town.

He was a textile worker for many years at Burlington Mills, and he retired from Aldon Mills. Charles is survived by his daughter, Stacey Smith and her husband Ricky, and his granddaughter, Sydney, of Sugar Valley. Other survivors include: brother, Jackie Sullivan and his wife Jackie Talley Sullivan; brother, Stevie Sullivan; sister-in-law, Joy Sullivan; sister-in-law, Eleanor Sullivan; sister-in-law, Lois Nell Gray; sister-in-law, Shirley Rogers; brother-in-law, Jerry Edwards; and several nieces and nephews and other family members.

A service to celebrate the life of Charles Sullivan will be conducted at 3 PM on Sunday, October 28 at Salem Baptist Church with Pastor William Roberts and Pastor Drew Elrod officiating. Interment will follow in Gordon Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers include: Chris Hales, Alan Jackson, Mike Miller, Paul Sneed, Donald Stanley, and Larry Wright.

The family would like to make special mention of the members of Salem Baptist Church and his friends at the Rec who were near and dear to his heart. The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 27 from 5 PM until 8 PM at Thomas Funeral Home. Charles will lie in state at Salem Baptist Church on Sunday, October 28 from 2 PM until the funeral hour.
