Charlotte M. Karchner, 90, passed away peacefully Saturday morning, May 11, 2019, at Providence Place Retirement Community in Drums, where she had been a resident for seven years. Born Charlotte Mae Heacock, July 31, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Warren and Renna (Keller) Heacock. She grew up in Nescopeck and Berwick, and spent most of her later life in Sugarloaf.

In her early years, Charlotte was employed by Rea & Derick in Berwick, where she met her husband, Elmer. They were married in October 1947 and raised two boys. Charlotte was a Waitress for Sunny Knoll Restaurant, FrogTowne Grille (formerly Pursell’s) and Top of the 80’s Restaurant.

She was a member and Sunday School Teacher of Christ Church UCC, Conyngham. She enjoyed spending time with family, camping and traveling. She kept an immaculate home and was a wonderful homemaker, mother and grandmother.

She was preceded in death, in addition to her parents, by her loving husband Elmer Karchner on March 14, 1978; a son Scott Karchner on July 26, 1995; and her best friend Ethel Kirchdoerfer on November 15, 2018. Surviving are her son Wayne Karchner and his wife Bobbee, Harrisburg; two grandsons, Mark Karchner and his wife Cathy, Gettysburg; and Jeff Karchner and his wife April, Harrisburg; three great-granddaughters Alina, Audrey, and Abigail; brother Donald Heacock and his wife Joanne, Berwick. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Her funeral will be held Saturday, May 18, 2019 at Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc. (East), 669 W. Butler Drive, Drums at 11 AM with her nephew the Rev. Randy Heacock officiating the service. Burial will follow in Conyngham Union Cemetery, Conyngham.
