Obituary of Chune Lee Chune Jea Lee, age 87 of Orange, beloved wife of the late Kyung Chan Lee, died peacefully, surrounded by her family on January 9, 2019 at the St. Raphael Campus of Yale New Haven Health. Born on October 8, 1931 in Dae Jeon, Chungnam, South Korea, she was the daughter of the late Byong Hak and Jong Keum (Lee) Yoo. Mrs. Lee immigrated with her husband and family to the U.S. in 1977 and settled in Greensboro, NC where they resided for 10 years.

While in Greensboro, she worked as a specialty tempura chef for the prominent and well known Kabuto Japanese Restaurant. Mrs. Lee moved to Connecticut nearly 30 years ago and resided in the towns of Ansonia and Orange. In her younger years, she enjoyed traveling with her husband and always practiced her flare for cooking, being especially known for her Asian dishes.

She was dedicated member of Soka Gakkai International Buddist Temple (SGI-USA) of Orange, where she was devout in the teachings of Buddha. She will be long remembered for her limitless courage, wisdom, and compassion; values she lived by and instilled in her sons and grandsons. Mrs. Lee is survived by her devoted sons, Young Won (Chyeon) Lee of Orange, Soong Won (Kyung) Lee of NC and Myung Won (Yun) Lee of Orange; cherished grandchildren, James Lee of Philadelphia, PA, Brian Lee of NC and Edward Lee of Boston, MA; a sister Hwa Jae Yoo, of South Korea; as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband of 50 years, she was predeceased by a brother, Jae Kyung Yoo. Funeral services will take place on Sunday, January 13, 2019 at 10:00 AM in the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia. Interment will directly follow in Orange Center Cemetery, Orange.

Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday morning from 9:00 to 10:00 AM, prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the SGI CT REGION, 518 Boston Post Rd. Orange, CT 06477.
