Our devoted, honest and talented father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Clarence M. “Bud” Mikolajczak, age 90, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, July 18, 2018. The son of the late Joseph P. and Veronica Mikolajczak, he was born August 27, 1927 in Bay City. Clarence attended St. Stanislaus Middle School and graduated from Bay City Central High School in 1945.

He served his country in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1947. Clarence graduated from Bay City Junior… Read More » College and enrolled in the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law, graduating in 1951 with a Bachelor of Law Degree. He practiced law for 65 years until his retirement in 2016.

Clarence was Public Administrator for Bay County for 50 years, serving under both Democratic and Republican administrations. He also served as Public Administrator to the counties of Arenac, Gladwin, Ogemaw, Saginaw and Tuscola. Clarence was a member of the Michigan Bar Association and the Bay County Bay Association of which he served as President and on its Board of Directors.

Clarence was a lifelong member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish – St. Stanislaus Kostka Church and the St. Stan’s A.C. He was also a member of The League of Catholic Women and Men, the St. George Society, the Knights of Columbus Council #4102 and the P.L.A.V. Post #162.

Clarence had a deep Catholic faith and loved going to Mass. He enjoyed playing cards with family, going fishing and watching high school and college sports. Clarence was well known throughout the legal community as someone who truly loved and respected the practice of law.

On June 30, 1951 Clarence married Joan V. Kaznowski and they shared their lives together for 55 years until her passing on May 3, 2007. He is survived by their five children, Mark (Michelle DeLosh), Ann (Dennis) Freer, John (Jeri Gleichauf), Mary (Christopher) Reynolds and Sara (Randy Pearson) Nurenberg; grandchildren, Adam (Lisa) Mikolajczak, Gwen (Alan) Cox, Timothy, Matthew and Daniel Freer, Christine Mikolajczak, Heidi (Adam) Webster, Nicholas Mikolajczak, Susan and Julia Reynolds, Collin and Jacob Nurenberg; great-grandchildren, Ranjit, Riverlyn and Kevin Mikolajczak and Hadley Webster; and two sisters-in-law, Theresa Weber and Donna Kaznowski. He was also preceded in death by his two brothers, Donald and Joseph P. Jr. Mikolajczak; his sister, Edwina Baranek; and his son-in-law, Leon Nurenberg.

The Funeral Liturgy will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 21, 2018 at Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish – St. Stanislaus Kostka Church. The Celebrant will be Fr. Richard M. Filary.

The Rite of Committal will be at Floral Gardens Mausoleum followed by Military Honors conducted by the Bay County Veterans Council. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish. Visitation will be on Friday from 12:00 to 8:00 p.m. with the Knights of Columbus Bible Presentation at 6:30 p.m. followed by a Rosary Service at the Trahan Funeral Chapel.
