Claude Webster Hunt, 78, of Spartanburg, SC, died Monday, January 21, 2019, after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease. Born March 17, 1940, in Rocky Mount, NC, he was the son of the late Goldia Mae Henry Hunt and Charles William Hunt, Sr. Claude loved his God, his family, and his country. A U. S. Air Force veteran, Claude served for four years and was an employee of Roebuck Buildings Company, Inc. until his retirement.

He was a member of Green Street Baptist Church for many years and later a member of First Baptist Church Spartanburg. Claude began his Scouting career as a Cub Scout in 1946 in Rocky Mount, NC and ended his Scouting career as Lodge Advisor for Skyuka Lodge where he served on the Camp Bob Hardin Building Committee. In 1989 he received the Silver Beaver Award from the Palmetto Council for his service.

Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Sedalia Waters Hunt; his children, Alison Hunt Walker of Spartanburg, SC, Dr. Jason Webster Hunt of Salisbury, NC, Ashley Hunt Skipper and her husband Rick Skipper of Boiling Springs, SC; his grandchildren, who brought him so much joy, Nathaniel Gaillard Walker IV of Lexington, SC, Madelyn Anne, Ella Grace, and Hanna Ruth Skipper. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Bill Hunt. A service honoring Claude’s memory will be conducted at 2:00 PM Thursday, January 24, 2019, at First Baptist Church Spartanburg Davis Chapel, by The Rev.

Sal Barone. Visitation will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Bridge at Green Street, c/o First Baptist Church Spartanburg, 250 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29306; or Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home, 686 Jeff Davis Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29303.
