) February 3, 1932 – May 30, 2018 Sandra M. Clark May 10, 1936 – May 30, 2018 Allan and Sandy Clark of Fox Island, WA were taken from their family in a tragic auto accident on May 30, 2018. While we mourn their loss we will always be comforted in the knowledge that they left this world together and will never be apart. Allan was born in Aberdeen, WA and lived in Moclips, WA for a few years before he and his family moved to Centralia, WA.
He is preceded in death by his parents Clinton A. (Kenny) Clark and mother Vivian Clark, sisters Melva Noble and Patricia Barlow. Sandy was born to Alva and Bertha Housman in Litchfield, MN and moved to Centralia around the age of six. Sandy was preceded in death by her siblings Cleone Olson, Maxine (Dickson) Maxfield, Francis Sulis, and Lowell (Bud) Housman.
She is survived by her sister Shirley Perry of Milton. Sandy and Allan married not long after high school. Allan started his career as a pilot in the Army Air Corps and then the United States Air Force.
Sandy was a homemaker and the solid rock of the family as Allan traveled extensively. His military career took them both to Charleston, SC where both Kimberly (Kim) and Lorri were born, then off to Puerto Rico and next Austin, TX where Theresa (Terri) was born. The family of five shipped off to Panama for a few years and then back to the States when Kristen (Kris) was born in Tacoma (Madigan).
Allan spent a year in Vietnam as an advisor to the Vietnamese Air Force. Even then, he never missed a Christmas with Sandy. Allan retired from the Air Force in 1973 and flew for a private aviation company until he changed his career direction and worked the State of Washington in the Department of Transportation and later the Department of Fisheries.
In 1988 they built their dream home on Fox Island, WA over looking over the South Puget Sound and the Olympic mountain range. Many family gatherings and weddings were held at their home filled with love, laughter and food. Oh the food… They also made many beautiful memories at Otter Crest in Oregon.
Searching for beach glass became a life-long obsession for Sandy, as did catching glimpses of whales and eating clam chowder at Mo’s Restaurant. Nothing made them happier than sharing these adventures with their children – especially their grandchildren. Sandy and Allan loved to travel.
They visited many beautiful places like Hawaii, Tahiti, Great Britain, Scotland, Ireland, Greece, Italy, the Caribbean and many road trips throughout the states including Arizona for Mariner’s spring training. Go M’s! Both Allan and Sandy were very dedicated to their second family, the congregation of University Place Presbyterian Church.
They joined the church in 1972, sang in the choir and participated in many positions of fellowship and leadership. Allan and his men of faith dubbed the “Friday Morning Group” studied the bible with meaningful reflection along with lively conversation and a healthy dose of humor. Without spoiling them, Sandy and Allan only wanted the best for their children.
Music, education and faith were the foundations of the Clark family. If you were fortunate to spend time with these two amazing individuals, your life was the better for it. They leave behind their children: Kimberly Darrow, Lorri Voss (Robert), Theresa Beck (Terry), and Kristen Blondin (Dustin).
Their grandchildren: Hayley Pettit (Bo), Ryan LeMaster (Katy), Steven Darrow, Samuel Darrow (Analisa), Bryan Beck (Tanya), Matthew, Riley and Nicholas Voss. Great grandchildren: Knox and Emma Pettit, and Ilan Darrow. A memorial service will be held on June 17th at 2:00 p.m. – University Place Presbyterian Church, 8101 27th Street West, University Place, WA 98466.
